When your pet requires care beyond the scope of general practice, our team coordinates referrals to trusted veterinary specialists in the Greater Victoria region and beyond. Specialist referrals are arranged for cardiology, dermatology, orthopedic surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and other specialty areas as required. We communicate directly with the specialist team to share your pet's clinical history and ensure continuity of care. Our goal is to connect you with the right expertise as efficiently as possible, with clear communication throughout the process.
Pets requiring continuous monitoring, intravenous fluid support, serial assessments, or post-operative care may need to stay with us for a period of supervised care. Hospitalized patients receive regular monitoring, nursing care, and veterinarian assessment throughout their stay. We will keep you informed of your pet's progress and advise on the expected duration of hospitalization. Our team communicates clearly about the care being provided and what to watch for after your pet goes home.
Oxygen support is available for pets experiencing respiratory distress, recovering from anesthesia, or managing conditions that affect blood oxygen levels. Supplemental oxygen is delivered safely and monitored continuously during its use. Oxygen support is provided in conjunction with other veterinary care rather than as a standalone service. Pets requiring oxygen support are assessed by our veterinary team, and the appropriate level and delivery method are determined based on the clinical presentation.
Blood pressure measurement is an important part of the evaluation of pets with heart disease, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or other conditions that affect cardiovascular function. We perform blood pressure monitoring as part of health assessments and ongoing management for pets with relevant conditions. In-house glucose testing provides rapid results for pets with diabetes or suspected blood sugar concerns, allowing our team to make timely management decisions at the point of care. Both services are available during regular appointments.
